In the latest development in the recent Adobe security saga, the developer has released a patch including 32 bug fixes for its embattled Flash software.
Almost all of these vulnerabilities allowed for the possibility of remote execution of malicious code, and the update is recommended as urgent for all Flash users.
It remains to be seen how this latest development will play with the Mac security community. It’s been pointed out many times that Steve Jobs’ recent criticism of Adobe, and Apple’s refusal to allow Flash onto the iPhone or iPad, stems at least possibly from security-specific concerns.
However, it’s generally considered unlikely that this patch alone will lead to any major change in Apple’s position. In fact they may be looking to go in the opposite direction and exclude Adobe from the Mac platform as well, with many users already having switched to Preview, Apple’s own PDF reader.
